Tiles are masked the way launchers mask them (squircle = Samsung/OneUI, circle = Pixel — the dashed outline on the 96px tile is Android's guaranteed-safe zone; nothing important may cross it). The grey column is the flat one-colour silhouette, which is what the media-notification icon is forced to be. Dropped after the first pass: a bar-chart/equaliser mark (read as an analytics app) and a full perched bird (read as a kiwi).
The same two marks as a home-screen tile (on wallpaper, where the icon actually has to compete), as a website wordmark, and as a 16px browser favicon.
